Visiting Goolton Technology and China Telecom 2026
February 8, 2026
On 8 February 2026, the Department of Computer Science organized a visit to leading technology enterprises in Shenzhen. Led by Dr Jingzong LI and Dr Chen ZHANG, 35 students visited Goolton Technology Co., Ltd. and China Telecom, gaining first-hand exposure to cutting-edge technologies in the Greater Bay Area and experiencing how theoretical knowledge is applied in real-world industrial settings.

Goolton Technology focuses on enterprise-level augmented reality (AR) solutions and holds more than 120 patents. Its technologies cover optical waveguide display modules, AR smart wearable devices, and remote collaboration platforms. During the visit, the company demonstrated how AR, combined with artificial intelligence (AI), and digital twin technologies, is applied in industrial inspection, equipment maintenance, and remote training. Students also learnt about the company’s strategic expansion from the industrial market into consumer-grade AI + AR glasses, as well as its latest research and development progress.

The visit then proceeded to China Telecom, where students explored practical applications of 5G, 10-gigabit optical networks, cloud computing, and AI in smart city development and enterprise digital transformation. They gained insights into how next-generation communications infrastructure supports the deep integration of “cloud” and “intelligence” in the AI era.
Through close interaction with industry experts, this visit provided students with direct exposure to frontier technologies and industry applications. Students have broadened their horizons and strengthened their professional identity, preparing themselves for future careers in the technology industry. The Department of Computer Science will continue to promote industry-academia collaboration to cultivate talent with global vision and strong innovative capabilities.
