Four outstanding students from the Master of Science in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (MSc-DSAI) programme received full tuition sponsorship by the University to participate in overseas summer school programmes at University of Oxford and University College London (UCL).

The selection process for the two overseas summer school exchange programmes was highly competitive. Remarkably, all four students recommended by MSc-DSAI were awarded full tuition scholarships by the University, following the School’s nomination. This achievement makes MSc-DSAI the master’s programme with the highest number of scholarship recipients among all taught postgraduate programmes at the University, which fully demonstrates the exceptional academic level and overall competitiveness of our DSAI students.

During their exchange at Oxford, student Angie shared, ” research in data science and artificial intelligence is not only the refinement of algorithms, but also a humble mindset that continuously questions the societal implications of technology.” Her fellow classmate Alfred shared that his understanding of interdisciplinary values was deepened through the open classroom environment, and expressed his determination to dedicate his future career to research at the intersection of technology and society.

Students participating in the UCL summer school programme enriched their professional knowledge through a series of academic lectures and thematic seminars. They also actively engaged in intercultural exchanges, fostering a broader global perspective and greater cultural awareness. They quickly adapted to the local academic environment and engaged in insightful discussions with peers from around the world, exchanging ideas and inspiring one another.

From the iconic Bodleian Library and the historic cloisters of Hertford College to the scenic banks of the River Thames, each landmark formed a backdrop to the students’ growth and achievements.

This overseas exchange not only enhanced the students’ professional competencies but also significantly expanded their global outlook.
