MSc-DSAI Programme Establishes a “4+1” Articulated Pathway, Outstanding Graduates Eligible for Interview-Free Direct Admission

The Master of Science in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (MSc-DSAI) programme of the School of Decision Sciences (SDSC), The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK), and Shantou University Medical College (SUMC) recently signed a collaboration agreement, establishing a “4+1” articulated pathway. Under the agreement, SUMC will recommend outstanding graduating students, and those who meet the agreed criteria will be admitted directly to the MSc-DSAI programme without an interview, opening a new channel for interdisciplinary talent development in healthcare and artificial intelligence.

The School of Decision Sciences stated that the collaboration aims to attract high-calibre students with interdisciplinary backgrounds, enhance the academic quality and diversity of the MSc-DSAI cohort, and further strengthen the School’s competitiveness and reputation in health-tech AI education. Both parties hope to establish a stable talent pipeline through the collaboration, promote sustainable inter-institutional exchanges, and advance the integration of healthcare and artificial intelligence.

Shantou University Medical College has a long history and is co-sponsored by the Guangdong Provincial Government and the Li Ka Shing Foundation. It is one of Guangdong’s key medical institutions and enjoys a strong academic reputation. In recent years, the College has actively developed interdisciplinary fields such as healthcare big data and intelligent medicine, producing graduates with a solid foundation in both medicine and data science, which aligns closely with the data science and artificial intelligence direction of the MSc-DSAI programme.

SDSC pointed out that the collaboration aligns with the School’s strategic goals of enhancing academic excellence and student diversity. By recruiting high-calibre undergraduates from a top-tier medical institution, the MSc-DSAI programme can further raise the overall quality of its students and consolidate the School’s reputation in interdisciplinary AI applications, supporting its long-term development and competitive edge.

Both parties said they will continue to deepen exchanges, promote the integration of healthcare and artificial intelligence, provide students with more cross-disciplinary learning and development opportunities, and cultivate more interdisciplinary talent with both medical knowledge and data science capabilities for society.
