To welcome the new students of the Master of Science in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (MSc-DSAI) programme for the 2025/26 academic year, we hosted a warm and engaging welcome lunch at Nina hotel, Tsuen Wan West on 30 August 2025 (Saturday). This delighted event aimed to foster connections among newcomers and set a positive tone for the upcoming academic year.

The event kicked off with an opening speech by Dr Aileen HOU, the Programme Director, who extended a heartfelt welcome to the students. She shared her sincere hopes for their academic journey ahead and outlined the programme’s goals and academic vision. We were honored to have Professor CHAN Wai Sum, the Dean of the School of Decision Sciences, join us to share insights about the School’s development and the future opportunities that await students. Moreover, Professor Chan presented the “Outstanding Entrance Award” to serval exceptional new students for their impressive academic backgrounds and potential.

To encourage interaction among students, we organized various ice-breaking activities, including self-introductions, drawing the programme logo, and other interactive games. The groups that won the games were rewarded with prizes.

We were also very excited to invite our distinguished alumni, Ms Becky KWOK and Mr Justin WANG, who shared their experiences from their time at HSUHK and offered valuable advice on career development to the new students.

The orientation event concluded successfully on a high note in a harmonious and warm atmosphere. We hope that this event can serve as a launching pad for our new students as they embark on their exciting journey in the world of big data and AI, paving a bright future together.
